The Great Route of Magical Cities and Villas of the Old Kingdoms is a fascinating tour that invites us to explore some of the most beautiful, emblematic and history-rich towns in Spain. This carefully designed itinerary is divided into two parts, allowing travelers to fully enjoy each destination, connecting with the essence and cultural legacy that characterizes each of these charming villages. Along the way, we will be transported through time, discovering the historical, architectural, and cultural richness that defines these localities, many of which have witnessed important events in the ancient kingdoms of Spain.
The route takes us to discover magical towns with a unique charm. Among them is Viso del Marqués, known for its imposing Palace of the Marquis of Santa Cruz, a jewel of the Spanish Renaissance. We continue to Campo de Criptana, home to the famous windmills that inspired the adventures of Don Quixote. Yepes, on the other hand, surprises us with its Renaissance-style urban layout and its magnificent Collegiate Church of San Benito Abad.
We continue to Escalona, whose imposing castle dominates the landscape and tells stories of kings and knights. In Loeches, the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception transports us to the time of the Habsburgs, while San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a World Heritage Site, dazzles us with its majestic monastery and the rich history it houses.
The journey continues towards the natural beauty of Las Navas del Marqués, a perfect place to enjoy the tranquility of the mountains. Mombeltrán, with its medieval castle, invites us to relive the stories of nobles and warriors. In Piedralaves and La Adrada, we find a bucolic atmosphere surrounded by mountains, ideal for lovers of nature and traditional architecture.
In San Martín de Valdeiglesias, we are welcomed by the Castillo de la Coracera, a fortress full of mystery and charm. El Tiemblo, famous for its forest of centuries-old chestnut trees, offers a respite in the middle of nature before arriving at Madrigal de las Altas Torres, birthplace of Isabella the Catholic, where you can visit historical monuments such as the wall and the Palace of Juan II.
Each of these destinations not only stands out for its heritage and cultural value, but also for the hospitality of its people, its rich gastronomy and the stories that seem to come to life as you walk through its streets. This route is more than a journey, it is an unforgettable experience that connects us with the deepest roots of the history of Spain and leaves us with an indelible memory of the magic of its villages.
